Shipping & VAT Policy (European Union)
At Box, we are dedicated to providing our customers within Europe with clear, transparent shipping policies. This section outlines the applicable VAT, shipping costs, customs duties (if any), and delivery processes for orders within European countries.
1. VAT on European Orders
- For EU Customers: If you are purchasing from a country within the European Union (EU), EU VAT will be applied at the checkout based on the country of delivery. The VAT rate is determined by the local tax laws in the destination country.
- Intra-EU Transactions: As of July 2021, with the implementation of the EU VAT e-commerce rules, VAT is charged on all goods sold to EU customers, regardless of the value. The VAT rate displayed at checkout will reflect the rate applicable to the country of delivery.
-
Major EU Countries:
- France: Standard VAT rate of 20%.
- Italy: Standard VAT rate of 22%.
- Germany: Standard VAT rate of 19%.
- Netherlands: Standard VAT rate of 21%.
- Spain: Standard VAT rate of 21%.
- Other EU countries will charge VAT according to their local rates, which can range from 17% to 27%.
- UK (Non-EU Country): The United Kingdom is no longer part of the European Union. As such, the UK is subject to its own VAT and customs regulations. Orders shipped to the UK will not have EU VAT applied at checkout, and instead, VAT and customs duties will be due at importation, as per UK rules.
-
EU Countries Covered: This VAT policy applies to all countries within the European Union, including but not limited to:
- Austria
- Belgium
- Bulgaria
- Croatia
- Cyprus
- Czech Republic
- Denmark
- Estonia
- Finland
- France
- Germany
- Greece
- Hungary
- Ireland
- Italy
- Latvia
- Lithuania
- Luxembourg
- Malta
- Netherlands
- Poland
- Portugal
- Romania
- Slovakia
- Slovenia
- Spain
- Sweden
- Non-EU Countries within Europe: The United Kingdom, Norway, and Switzerland are outside the EU VAT zone, and will have different VAT and customs rules.
2. Shipping Costs and Delivery Times within the EU
- Shipping Fees: For customers in the EU, shipping fees are calculated based on the destination country, the weight of your order, and the selected shipping method. The final shipping cost will be displayed at checkout before you complete your purchase.
- Delivery Time: As we fulfill orders from Amazon FBA facilities located in Germany, shipping to EU countries is efficient and reliable. Delivery times are based on the destination and the available shipping method, with most orders arriving within a few days.
- Tracking: After your order has been dispatched from our Amazon FBA facility, you will receive tracking information so you can monitor the status and location of your parcel until it arrives at your delivery address.
3. Customs and Duties for EU Orders
- No Customs Duties: As shipments within the EU are considered intra-EU transactions, customs duties or additional import fees will not be applied to your order. The price you pay at checkout will include VAT and shipping fees only. There will be no additional charges upon delivery.
- Customs Documentation: While customs duties are not applicable, we ensure that all necessary shipping and customs documentation is prepared to ensure compliance with intra-EU trade regulations.
4. Returns & Refunds for European Orders
- Returns Policy: Our standard returns policy applies to European customers. If you wish to return an item, it must be in its original condition and packaging. Returns must be initiated within the specified return period, as outlined on our website.
- Return Shipping: For customers within the EU, return shipping costs are generally the responsibility of the customer unless the item is defective or not as described. We recommend using a trackable return service to ensure the safe return of your product.
- Refund Process: Once we receive and process your return, a refund will be issued based on the original cost of the item, excluding any shipping fees paid. Refunds will be credited to the original payment method.
5. Special Notes for European Customers
- VAT for Non-EU Territories within Europe: Some European regions, such as the Canary Islands (Spain), Gibraltar (UK), and the Faroe Islands (Denmark), are not part of the EU VAT area. For orders shipped to these regions, you may be subject to local VAT and customs duties. Please check your region’s specific requirements. Click here for more details.
-
UK Customers (Post-Brexit): The United Kingdom is no longer part of the European Union, so different rules apply:
- VAT: UK VAT (20%) will not be charged at checkout for orders from the EU to the UK. The VAT will be due upon importation, and the UK Customs will apply VAT and customs duties based on the value of the goods when they arrive.
- Customs Duties: Orders shipped to the UK from the EU may incur customs duties, depending on the type and value of the goods. This applies to all goods, even if they are from an EU-based seller.
- Post-Brexit Import Rules: Customers in the UK should ensure they are aware of the relevant customs procedures. If DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) is available at checkout, duties and VAT will be included in the total price. If DDP is not available, customers will be required to pay any applicable customs duties and VAT directly to the UK Customs at the time of delivery.
- Cross-Border Transactions: For transactions between different EU countries, VAT is applied based on the delivery country’s VAT rate. However, some EU territories (like the Canary Islands, the Azores, and Madeira) have specific rules that may result in differing VAT or customs treatment.
